I Am in Competition With No One. I Hope We All Make It

My journey started in school when I first saw a well-known author making $1M on Kindle Unlimited. She was holding her first book cover and how proud she was. The title was - “Kindle Author making $100,000 writing ebooks“.

She was none other than E.L. James. Later on, more authors came along in that school magazine.

I always dreamed of becoming a writer but didn’t know how to start. I belonged to a small country so becoming a writer was really off my limits.

People around me consider it a luxury.

I was scared as I was sure no publisher will ever select my books. Traditional publishing was not a choice for me. There was no control. I don’t want someone telling me how many word counts should be in the book, or how many scenes there should be. when the characters should meet each other and so on. This was sure to destroy my creativity.

The pandemic was a blessing and a curse.

I started working on my books every single day. With a job as a data engineer (part-time), it was difficult but still, somehow I was encouraged by my mom to continue.

From shifting to a big city alone and living a depressed life - to moving back to my hometown and regaining back my life, it has been a blessing that I met so many self-published authors along the way. So many great authors who are making money full-time selling books outside Amazon KDP. There are many writers making money full-time and you won’t see their names in New York Times ever! Why? Because Amazon is just an option now.

I was encouraged by these authors to take a step further and take charge of my life. I went from Kindle Unlimited to wide and then now working on my Patreon full-time.

It has been a really long journey for me.

I have learned so much and would like to share it with you.
